photostory: Steve Mann owns a 3 acre farm in South Kona, on the Big Island of Hawaii. He bred culinary herbs to sell in local shops. He is now semi retired and produces for his everyday life and trade with his neighbors. Four times a year he invites interns or travelers to help him. As a trade, they can stay there for free.
photostory: Darcy Kane is one of the young worker, who helps Steve for two weeks. Originally he is from Australia. He loves to work with Steve because he teaches him a lot about Hawaii, farming, nature and other things. So it is not only work but also education from a very wise man.
photostory: Steve uses no powered farm tools. Instead of a mower or chainsaw, he prefers to work with shovel, pruning saw, or ax. After a nice and healthy breakfast and a short briefing, Steve and his young helper get ready for the work.
